Tiered Dungeons
Climb the tiers. Defeat the gatekeepers. Claim what waits beyond.
Across Norrath, familiar halls have begun to answer a darker call. Each victory opens the way to a harsher version of the trials that came before it, and every step upward demands more from the adventurer who enters. The creatures within grow stronger, learn new abilities, and guard increasingly valuable treasures. At the end of each progression tier stands a boss that must be defeated before the next tier can be unlocked. Those who have already conquered a tier may return to it freely, but the first ascent always demands its price.
How Tiered Progression Works
Normal Tiered DungeonsMost combat zones throughout Norrath are considered normal progression dungeons. Choose the hunting ground that fits your group, then challenge it at your current progression tier.
Progression & Gatekeeper BossesEach tier must be earned in order. To complete a new progression tier, you must defeat the required number of enemies within the allotted time. Once the requirement is met, the tier's Gatekeeper Boss will spawn at the zone's safe spot. Defeat the Gatekeeper to complete the tier and unlock the next step in your progression. While the challenge is active, use
#events from inside the zone to check how much time remains and how many enemies are still required. Each newly completed tier also grants an additional reward through the Event System.Entry CostAdvancing into a new tier costs platinum. Once a tier has been completed, that previously completed tier can be entered again free of charge.
Escalating DifficultyHigher tiers make NPCs increasingly dangerous. Enemies gain greater power and additional abilities as you climb.
Escalating RewardsGreater danger brings greater opportunity. Higher tiers improve the chance for valuable items to drop.
Tier-Specific LootUnique loot is grouped into progression bands. Tier 1 loot is associated with dungeon tiers 11-19, Tier 2 with 20-29, and the pattern continues upward.
Raid ProgressionRaid tiers are tracked separately from normal dungeon tiers. Their encounters are more difficult and use their own separate tier-drop pools.
